Jeffrey F. Dobson

August 15, 1958 — November 1, 2025

Jeffrey F. Dobson Sr., 67, passed away on November 1, 2025, while working alongside his son and caring for others. Jeff was born on August 13, 1958, in Lynn, Massachusetts, the son of Elmer E. and Bruna G. (DiCicco) Dobson.

In 1966, Jeff and his family moved to Hill Road in Lyman, where Elmer and Bruna raised their five children: Elmer, Diane, Jeff, Scott, and Cindy. Jeff attended Massabesic schools and later served his country honorably in the United States Army. Though he didn’t often speak about his service, he was proud to have served and returned home to Maine afterward.

Growing up, Jeff was a private person, but he enjoyed spending time with friends, working on cars, and racing dirt bikes on ice. One story he once shared—an example of his fun-loving and mischievous nature—involved racing his Ford Fairlane 500 on a back road in Arundel. He lost control and rolled the car, but thankfully walked away unhurt. When the sheriff’s deputies arrived, they couldn’t prove he was the driver, so he was never charged. That story reflected his adventurous spirit and the kind of youthful fun that was common in those days.

Jeff eventually met the love of his life, Debra Jean Erickson, and in 1979 they married in Buxton. Together they started a family, first welcoming their daughter, Melissa, and later their son, Jeffrey. Family was everything to Jeff. He often worked three jobs at once to ensure his wife and children never went without. Though they had little at times, holidays were always filled with joy—and a tree full of gifts. When the kids opened their presents, he’d often say with a smile, “Oh yeah, that’s what we got you,” knowing Mom had likely picked them out—but it was Dad’s hard work that made sure they were there.

Over the years, Jeff held many jobs, including working for B & L Ambulance as an EMT and spending more than 20 years as an on-call firefighter with the Old Orchard Beach Fire Department. He also served for a time as a reserve police officer for the Town of Old Orchard Beach. Jeff worked for Lampron Energy and Quirk Oil, and spent many years with Blow Brothers in Old Orchard Beach, where he made lasting friendships built on respect for his strong work ethic. Later, he worked for Grondin’s, where he again earned the friendship and admiration of his coworkers.

In 2005, Jeff suffered the devastating loss of his beloved wife, Debra. Though that time was incredibly hard for him, he made sure to continue caring for his children and his granddaughter (Michaela), putting them above all else. In the years that followed, his family remained the center of his life. Jeff went on to have two more beautiful granddaughters (Nadia and Josephine) that he adored, as well as a loving and meaningful relationship with Linda Goodwin up until her time of death in June of 2024.

Jeff was an extremely giving and caring person, always making sure those around him were taken care of—whether it was his family or anyone else in need. No matter the time of day, if someone called, he was there.

He is predeceased by his beloved wife, Debra. Jeff is survived by his daughter, Melissa Dobson; his son, Jeffrey Dobson, and his spouse, Emily; three granddaughters, Michaela, Nadia, and Josephine; as well as his siblings Elmer, Diane (Michael Bouthot), Scott, and Cindy; and several nieces and nephews.

A time of visitation will be held on Saturday, November 15, 2025, from 10:00 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. at First Parish Congregational Church, 12 Beach Street, Saco. A funeral service will follow at 11:30 a.m., with burial immediately afterward beside his beloved wife, Debra, at Scarborough Memorial Cemetery on Old Blue Point Road in Scarborough.
